Aberdare Village, Rhondda Cynon Taff, old County of Mid Glamorgan.Description: Industrial town at head of Cynon Valley. Church: St John's Church, part 12th century, largely restored. Unusual iron gates made a local ironworks. A grave contains man buried standing up to await Day of Judgement. Country Park: Dare Valley Country Park, reclaimed coal-mining land. Fishing, bird-watching, industrial/envirionmental heritage. Park (urban): Aberdare Park; boating lake, woods, meadows. Population: 40,000. Industrial town at head of Cynon Valley.Sport: Golf club. Statue: Statue of noted choirmaster-blacksmith Griffith Rhys Jones, called Caradog, by Goscombe John, Victoria Square. Swimming pool: Indoor pool.
